Commercial ostrich farming

The participants of the conference that was held on July 6-8, 2006 at model agricultural enterprise of Corporation “Agro-Soyuz” were able to find out the latest world achievements in the field of ostrich farming. They could also discuss veterinary and biosecurity issues. Participants could share their experience and establish business contacts during round table discussions. Also, the school of ostrich farming was presented within the context of the conference. Members of Ostrich Breeding Association of Ukraine participated in this presentation.

Commercial ostrich farming is the most profitable type of poultry farming in the world especially, when effective approach is in place.

First-year profit may come to 200-400%. This is the advantage of an ostrich – exotic bird with remarkable adaptability to different climatic conditions and unpretentiousness to food (they “approved” Ukrainian alfalfa and clover). That’s why farmers call ostriches “livestock with wings”
